Are you like me, a total horror movie fanatic? Do you like to watch terrifying movies in the dark and then not sleep at all that night? Well, I do. I love scary movies. I watch good horror and bad horror, Indie horror and classic horror. I love it all. This year we have some interesting horror movies coming to a theatre near you. Let’s look at some of these and see what’s good.
Tell Me Your Name
Tell me your name, aka Along Came the Devil: After a troubled childhood, Ashley searches for a connection and unknowingly invites in a demonic force which leaves her loved ones fighting for her soul.
It’s slated to come out sometime this year, but no actual date has been given.
Hereditary
Hereditary: When the matriarch of the Graham family passes away, her daughter’s family begin to unravel the terrifying secrets of the family’s ancestry.
Hereditary comes from the producer of The Witch and from A24 films, so I am down to see this. I love their films. Hereditary is out now.
Halloween
Halloween: Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
Jamie Lee looks so bad ass in this. I cannot wait to see this. If I just hear the Michael Myers theme song, I get excited. I’m a huge fan of the Halloween franchise. Halloween comes out October 19, 2018.
Suspiria
Suspiria is a remake of the original Italian supernatural horror classic by Dario Argento. The first one was so beautifully filmed and terrifying, I’m curious to see how the remake holds up. I read that while filming, the lead Dakota Johnson had to go into therapy, she was so disturbed by it.
The First PurgeThe First Purge is the fourth installment in the Purge franchise. It will focus on the origins of the Purge and how it started.
I have to admit, I hated the first actual Purge movie with Ethan Hawk. I thought it was terrible. However I have enjoyed the following ones. They seem to get better with each movie, so my expectations are pretty high for this one.
The Meg
The Meg looks like Jaws on steroids. It follows the story of a surfer who must confront the 70 foot shark that once attacked him in order to save those trapped in a sunken submersible.
I. Have. To. See. This.
Slender ManSlender Man: The story that shook the internet years ago about a tall, thin, horrifying figure with long arms and a features face responsible for the disappearance of countless missing children and teens will be out in August 2018.
Honestly the real true life story of Slender Man is horrifying and I doubt they can make up anything scarier in Hollywood.
The Nun
The Nun is a spin-off of the Nun in the Conjuring 2 movie with Bonnie Aarons reprising her role as said nun. It’s slated to release in September 2018.
I will probably eventually see all of these, to be honest, even if they get bad reviews, because that’s what a horror movie buff does. Just like I sat through that awful Insidious: Last Key movie. Ugh, what dog doo doo that was.
What about you? Does any of these have your hair standing on end? Let me know which ones you’ll be seeing this summer.
