The Perfectionist Guide to getting the Perfect Selfie.

Are you the kind of person that just snaps a picture of yourself and posts it without thinking? Do you wake up looking the same way you went to bed and upon waking, snap a selfie and tag it #wokeuplikethis ? Because if you are, then you don’t need any help from moi.

But if you take a bunch of pics and labor over which one you will choose and question how if only you didn’t have that spot on your nose, that wrinkle on your forehead, but don’t want to post a picture that looks like it’s been filtered in a underwater aquarium or a fog bank. Then this article is for you.

First, you want to take about 20 to 30 pictures of yourself in various poses. Smile, side pose, duck face, side pout, wink, looking up, you get the picture. Then you’ll want to choose 4 of your best looks.

I wanted to post a picture showing my new trendy white sunglasses I picked up last week. I decided to erase some blemishes, but left some wrinkles as I want to look natural, not overly filtered.

Edit them using your favorite app. I like Line Camera for erasing spots and wrinkles. Also has a good choice of filters.

You have now blurred out your blemishes and wrinkles, picked your favorite color filter and trimmed your picture, So now what?

Well, you need to pick an app that allows you to use a photo grid frame. I like Pic Arts. Pic Arts also has some cool artsy filters and unlimited free stickers of everything you could possibly think of.

For example, I turned my dog’s regular photo of him outside into a photo shoot of him battling the dark side in Star Wars, The Last Maltipoo! His IG is lit.

Those are all stickers I found on Pics Art. How cool is that? It’s a great App.

So you’ve already spent over an hour editing and scrolling all the cool features. On to the next step. Take your 4 best photos and select collage and grid. When you see the 4 picture grid, enter your 4 best in the squares and save. This is a great way to see all your best to pick out your VERY best.

Now I have a chance to mull over which picture, not only looks best, but will also showcase my sparkling, dazzling personality and of coarse, my fabulous new shades.

All in all, this should take you about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how much time it ultimately takes you to decide which photo you like best. Hey, no one said this would be easy. I did say ‘perfectionist guide’, this is why some call social media a job in and of itself. It’s work!

And let’s face it, the better the pics, the harder it is to pick. The photo grid helps me see them all laid out together and helps me decide easier than if I just kept flipping through my camera roll. This method I find, is the easiest way to choose the picture that makes you look like the best possible version of yourself to fool everyone online into thinking you are damn near perfect.

I ended up choosing this one and added a cool magazine sticker frame. Free on PicArts now. Look. I’m on the cover of In Style Magazine!
