Let’s be honest here, did anyone sit through the whole Oscars show? I know I didn’t so I probably shouldn’t be even writing about it, but…..some things happened and I’m going to state outright my feelings about it whether anyone wants to hear them or not.
Here’s the winners list, so let’s get that out of the way, if you care.
Oscars 2019 complete winners list.
First of all, they couldn’t even get a host this year because people couldn’t remove the stick out their ass for two hours and laugh at some jokes. Whatever, hosting is probably history as they don’t need it and it saves money and avoids controversy.
Now for the show itself, The whole thing is tantamount to a gold star on your report card from kindergarten. It amounts to absolutely nothing as you can see what it did for Tatum O’Neil, Mira Sorvino, Marlee Matlin, Adrian Brody, Jared Leto, and the list goes on. Gwyneth Paltrow was never respected as an actress, people thought it was bought for her, same with Jennifer Lawrence. How’s her career doing?
How much you want to bet, Rami Malek will disappear into oblivion within the next 2 years? Let’s wait and see.
Anyway for the sake of argument, let’s pretend the Oscars matter, one of the worst snubs ever: Spike Lee still not getting best director, but Alfonso Cuaron, who already has a bunch of Oscars getting yet another one for a movie most people haven’t seen. I did see Gravity however, which he directed, won and well, I thought it was trash.
Spike Lee should have got an Oscar all the way back for Do the Right Thing. But the Oscars will never do the right thing, will they? I hope they cancel this show altogether one day. I honestly do.
Now the Memoriam.
How do you forget the great Carol Channing? What in the dark hell is going on with this Oscar ceremony? Oh, and they forgot the wonderful Sondra Locke!
So RIP Carol Channing and Sondra Locke, we here at Glam Syndicate remember you!
AND to top it off, Glenn Close did not get her Oscar!
For shame Academy!
I personally was not surprised A Star is Born did not sweep or Gaga and Cooper were snubbed as I expected it. The Oscars have always been prejudiced against Italians. Leonardo DiCaprio has to damn near die out there in the frozen tundra in The Revenant to get an Oscar he should have probably got back for Gilbert Grape, but definitely for a myriad of films afterwards, especially The Aviator and The Departed.
They didn’t give Scorsese his Oscar for Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, Cape Fear, The Aviator or Gangs of New York, but finally for The Departed, which if he didn’t win for that, it would have been too obvious there was a problem.
Be that as it may, I will probably not see Bradley Cooper win an Oscar in my lifetime. Just saying. And Gaga? Forgetta bout it.
Last, but not least Green Book won best picture, which pissed many people off due to the film being condemned by the family of pianist Dr. Donald Shirley who the film is based on.
If you don’t understand why people are pissed, think about this: If Sharon Tate’s remaining family condemned that new Tarantino movie coming out about the murders and it was then nominated and won an Oscar, and QT was up there thanking all his actors, you would most likely feel some disgust. So yeah, if I was black, I would probably be completely done with the Oscars after last night.
I am white and done with them. The show is garbage and now even the fashion is hideous. When people are so stupid as to praise Charlize Theron for her new look consisting of a long version Hitler hairstyle and a dress from my grandmother’s closet, I know we have hit a moment in time where people don’t even know what’s good anymore.
They will just say anything to go along with the narrative.
